Browser Specifications

Internet Access Requirements
To access the Internet, you need a direct or a dialup connection to it. The speed of access to our site will depend on many factors:
  • The quality and performance of any Internet Access Provider company you use
  • The speed and loading of the telephone line, if any
  • The number of users accessing the site simultaneously
  • The current load of major international telecommunications traffic routes
  • The current load of the Internet in general
Modem Speed: If you use a modem to access the Internet, then its speed is likely to be the main determinant of the speed of access to our site. We recommend strongly that you use a modem rated at least 28.8 Kbps (kilobytes per second - the baud rate).

Browser Requirements
Your "browser" is the software program you use to access the Internet's World Wide Web.
The most common browsers are Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer. Different versions of these browsers have been released over time.
You can use any browser to view these home pages. However, to use the Itinerary Planning Database area of our site, you must use Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 4.0 (IE4) or above. This is due to the use we make of advanced features available only in this browser.
If you install IE4, you do not have to uninstall any other browser(s) from your computer. You might prefer to use Netscape to browse the web and only use IE4 to access our site.
You can obtain IE4 free of charge, by downloading it from Microsoft, or can order it on CD and pay only the shipping charge.
To obtain Internet Explorer, click a link below
Download IE Order IE CD

Note: To order the CD, customers outside the USA and Canada must click a further link on the target page.

We are planning to make the site compatible with Netscape Navigator version 4.0 soon.

Browser Configuration
Certain features of IE4 can be enabled or disabled according to user preferences. IE4's default preferences are suitable for accessing our site.
Security: IE4 has four possible security settings. To view or change security settings, choose View / Internet Options from IE4's menu, then click the Security tab. Your security level must be Low, Medium or Custom, not High. If you choose custom settings, make sure of the following:
  • Java Permissions: do not disable
  • Active Scripting: enable
  • Scripting of Java applets: enable
  • Miscellaneous; Allow sumission of unencrypted form data: enable
Cookies: Cookies are packages of information about the state of your activity. They allow the website to remember what you are doing and keep track of parameters specific to you.
Each time you log in to the Itinerary Planning Database area, a cookie is created for the session. It is destroyed when you leave. Other web sites store a cookie on your computer. Our site does not store any information on your computer.
To enable cookies, choose View / Internet Options from IE4's menu and click the Advanced tab.
Other Settings: Other relevant settings on the Advanced tab are:
  • Java VM; JIT compiler: enable
  • Printing; Print Background Colors and Images: enable if you want to print the page's background graphic.
  • HTTP 1.1 Settings: it is recommended that you enable HTTP 1.1 for better performance.
